What are the requirements to show a Shih-Tzu?

I have a 3 year old purebred Shih-Tzu...but we don't have papers on him. He's hyper, barks all the time, and isn't very obedient...could I still show him? What are the requirements to show Shih-Tzus? I could probably get papers on him...but how much would it cost to get them?
