Dew claws on my puppy?

I have a 10 week old shih tzu puppy. She has dew claws on the front and the back. They are very loose and kind of dangling(can be pulled out from her leg). Question: should I have them removed? My vet said that she could do it but I have read such horror stories on how hard of a recovering it is for them. Help!!!
