Sometime, when I'm writing e-mail, I hit a key that wipes it out. Can anyone help?

So many times, when I'm writing a long e-mail, I, inadvertently, hit a key that wipes out the e-mail and it hasn't been saved into drafts. Can anyone tell me how this happens and what to do?
