Trying to remove ARO 2011?

My friend tried to dl AVAST yesterday from CNET and inadvertently clicked on the ARO tab dl'ing this software. Now she is caught in the loop where she is checking her registry without her permission and the thing is asking her to buy it to finish the registry clean. She tried to eliminate the program in Control Panel/programs and features but it doesn't appear there. How can she get rid of this thing? Thanks
